Having set the benchmark in Free Practice 2, Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton guaranteed that his vehicle felt perfect on the first day of the season at the Spanish Fabulous Prix.
Lewis Hamilton ended up on top of the competitor list in second work on, having partially beaten any semblance of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.
The results did not completely surprise the seven-time world champion because he had been feeling the improvements Mercedes had made in recent races.
“FP1 wasn’t the most ideal meeting for us yet we actually scholarly a considerable amount.
However, FP2 was a lot better, and the car was in great shape. “The track was exceptionally hot, so it was hard on the tires, particularly on the long run.
However, overall, it didn’t seem like we were too far behind leading the pack.” In recent races, the car has helped us move forward.
Everybody has endeavored to get us to this point and make those gradual additions.
We have an unmistakable heading of where we need to head pushing ahead as well.
“That is beginning to show up in our performance, which is on track. We hope to keep up the momentum from today through Saturday and get closer to our rivals.
George Russell, his teammate, also had a very good day. The former Formula One race winner appeared to be competitive in Free Practice 1, but on his qualifying simulation lap in the second one-hour practice, he was unable to get the most out of the W15.
As it varied between the two sessions, the Briton emphasized that the Mercedes still needs to find the best balance between its one-lap pace and race performance.
“We had a good day today on track. Around this circuit, the vehicle was performing extremely well.
We were consistently in front, and it was encouraging to see Lewis at the top of the timesheets.
Our long run pace in FP1 was cutthroat. Our single-lap pace appeared to be slightly faster than our long-run speed in FP2, but the car overall feels strong.
Even though it is only Friday, it has been a while since we have consistently topped the field.
“Because this is what we’ve been chasing for a while, I’m feeling good and excited.
However, “We won’t get ahead of ourselves and will work diligently tonight and tomorrow to prepare for Qualifying and Sunday’s Grand Prix as best we can,” Russell concluded.
