Therefore, I cannot say that I am pleased. The one thing I can take away from this weekend is that I am pleased with our progress.
“At the end, George was on a tyre that was much faster; I was on the hards and he was on the mediums.
I didn’t realize he was going to mediums or I would have remained out.
“I needed to simply drive better today, less mix-ups.
Overall, there were a lot of mistakes over the weekend, but there were positives in the performance.
Russell apologized to his group after minutes where he ran wide and furthermore had a late conflict with Oscar Piastri.
“Hardly any errors at key minutes which cost us battling with these two (Verstappen and Norris) toward the finish of the race,” Russell said.
“Those last three laps I was so centered to get back around the platform since I felt like I let the group down a little, neglecting to focus on Max.”
Notwithstanding feeling there was more Mercedes might have accomplished in Canada, Russell is glad with the group’s advancement in the wake of getting their lady platform of the mission.
“I think we had truly extraordinary speed. I think Red Bull have battled a piece with their vehicle the last two or three races so we want to see their presentation in Barcelona,” Russell added.
“However, the pace increase from us this weekend was not unexpected; the numbers back at the factory told us we were making a step forward with these upgrades,” the company stated.
