Last but not least, Zverev made an unexpected move against Alex de Minaur during a coin toss.

Alexander Zverev pulled off an odd move not long before the beginning of his French Open quarterfinal match versus Alex de Minaur that left some blaming the German tennis star for “a filthy club level cheating” during a coin throw.

Zverev chose the ball when chair umpire Damian Dumusois asked him to choose between the ball and the racket side of the coin toss.

The racket side of the coin was revealed when Zverev picked it up after it landed. Chair umpire Dumusois told de Minaur, “You tell me, Alex.

” “No, I said racket,” however, Zverev intervened, “I said racket.” The German then turned to de Minaur and told him, “But if you want to go, you go,” when Dumusois asked Zverev if this was actually the case.

I will accept.” In the end, de Minaur served and held his serve in the first game of the match. However, Zverev received criticism for his actions.

“In the Roland Garros quarterfinals, how is Alexander Zverev able to get away with dirty club level cheating?” Ben Lewis, a Canadian tennis commentator, asked.

However, Zverev had a great day on the court, defeating de Minaur 6-4, 7-6, (5), 6-4 to advance to his fourth French Open semifinal in a row.

De Minaur acknowledged after the match that it cost him to lose the second set, in which he had a set point and a 5-3 lead in the tie-break.

“I had a shot. That second set probably should have been taken. I poured out my heart there.

Did everything I could,” de Minaur stated following Zverev’s defeat.

Zverev and de Minaur met for the tenth time, and the German has a head-to-head record of 8-2 against the Australian.
